We are totally restoring this 100 year old cracker house. Years of neglect
& termites had really done a number on this poor old Florida cracker house.Andrew is David my husband's middle name, he is one of the two men remodeling this old Florida cracker house. Plus the street it sits on
is named Andrew street.... thereby us naming this house Andrew House.
Thus far we have jacked the house up/leveling it, put on a new roof, rebuilt all four exterior walls. Rebuilding the front porch now, it will be a
screened in porch. Have just started painting the outside a cheerful happy yellow. Yellow is a power color.
We can't wait to get to the interior of the house!
It would have been easier to tear it down and rebuild,
but then it would not have been an 100 year old cracker house.
Too bad we needed to take out the larger trees in front of the house. They were entirely too close to the front of the house/our new roof. Years ago there
had been some damage to the front porch from hurricane Opal coming through the Florida panhandle. They lost some large trees at that time which took out the roof of the front porch. The prior owners proceeded to plant
more large trees for shade but we thought the larger trees were a threat to the new ongoing restoration. Therefore us taking out the larger trees and planting smaller trees.
We have planted white dogwoods in the front
now. They will not cause severe damage to the house in case of another hurricane or tropical depression moving through this area. And look beautiful in the springtime.
Plus there are four really large pecan trees in the side/back yard
